Muses
LP
Remy van Kesteren is known for creating his own world with his compositions; a mix of neoclassical minimal, electronic music, alternative, jazz, and world influences, blurring the boundaries between genres. After studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris with famous harpist Isabelle Moretti, Remy wanted more than playing the classical repertoire and started releasing his own compositions.
Named after the nine Muses of inspiration from Ancient Greek Mythology, 'Muses' explores Remy's musical inspirations through 9 composers that have had and continue to have a major influence on his musical journey.
Remy about the album: ''For this record I have chosen to rework some of their tracks, blending the original compositions of some of my favourite bands and artists like Aphex Twin, Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, Bon Iver and Sibelius with my own musical language. Combining my harp and its rich heritage with musical worlds where the instrument is completely unknown sheds a new light on these musical gems and enriches the palette of the harp, an instrument once restricted to classical music alone, that is now genre-free and sounds like you’ve never heard it before."
